History

 

The Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG) was founded in 1990 by four Medical Oncologists who shared common visions and scientific goals, but most of all the willingness to offer their patients optimal care based on the latest achievements in Medical Oncology.

Thus, the Group originally consisted of four Medical Oncologists who represented two Anticancer Sites and two Academic Intitutions.


In the course of time, more oncologists, physicians of other specialties as well as scientists from other biomedical research fields, expanded the horizons of our research and joined the Group.


Today HeCOG numbers over 70 members from 19 oncology institutions in Greece and Cyprus. On an international level, HeCOG is collaborating with prominent sites as well as other research groups and is currently a member of:

  • European Network of Gynaecological Oncology Trials/European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ENGOT/ESGO)
  • Breast International Group (BIG)
  • European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP)
